Vintage 50s Black and Gold Straw Novelty Weave Alpine order Tyrolean Trilby Yeddo Hat / Made in Italy, Size 7 3-8

This is a unique and really cool 1950s “Yeddo” hat from the 1950s, made in Italy! Yeddo refers to the technique used to make the hat - the straw or other material is knotted rather than woven. This hat has some of both, but it's definitely a Yeddo hat. It's in an alpine or Tyrolean trilby style. The crown is tall and the crease is round, the brim curves down in front and up in back. The crown is composed of braided black straw woven in and out of a lattice framework of gold straw, with a woven gold top to the crown. The black brim straws are tied together rather than woven. The band is gold order and black twisted cords with a decorative loop on the left side. Inner band is grosgrain ribbon, and there's a tag that states it is made in Italy and is a size 7 ⅜.

There is damage to the hat - the top of the crown is separating in one spot, as shown, which could be stitched back on presentably. That gap is about 2” long. There is also a spot on the left front side of the crown, just below the split at the crown, where it seems the hat was partly crushed and some of the yellow straw running vertically was broken and is missing. Also, two of the horizontal pieces of yellow straw are broken on the inside. This could likely be structurally reinforced from the inside.
