Pottery shelf. Formed by hand from clay, embellished with antique stamps, and then hand painted with ceramic glazes, this shelf was then fired in a kiln. The sides of the shelf are also stamped & painted.

I always return from my travels with small momentos and they get lost in a drawer. Wanting a way to be able to enjoy my small treasures every day, I started making these wall shelves. They worked out perfectly! I hang them in my photo collages, or by themselves and they not only look sweet but they bring back memories of the items that they hold.

We are surrounded by mass market products. Inexpensive and easily replicated, they appear in all parts of the world. Quite often, we struggle to find handmade objects, and when we do, we are rewarded by the personal touch they add. They transform our utilitarian surroundings and make our spaces feel more like us, more 'home'. For me, art is an adventure that never ends. Inspired by my love for folk art, I create handmade ceramics that echo the rustic, eccentric expression - each with a personality of its own. Every one-of-a-kind piece starts with a simple idea, be it a sketch or a quotation, which I use to inspire the shape of the clay. I then glaze the pottery by hand and fire it in an electric kiln. The intricate patterns result from imprints of wood stamps and order other handmade objects.
