Harold Avery was a notable English author of children's literature who predominantly wrote schools stories, describing life in English public and private schools. Immensely popular with both boys and girls during the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century, Avery wrote and published over 50 books within a 45 year period. 'The Triple Alliance' was one of Avery's earlier works, and conforms with the author's interest in school order stories, detailing the escapes and adventures of pupils within an all-boys school.
