This beauty was born from re-watching the Xena series, particularly the episodes where Xena and Gabrielle encounter the fearsome Amazon warriors who live in the forest. These Amazons inspired certain characters in my novel Snake of the Nile that will be released April 2022, where the Amazon women fight like lions and love like wildfire. History often forgets the courageous women who shaped it and were never named as the great male heroes were and yet we would not be where we are today without the cunning of those women, the compassion, the foresight, the future-thinking, the perception, the ruthlessness, the bravery and the gaul. This piece is a tribute to those women who will remain nameless forever but who shaped the world we see around us today.

Each part of the wall hangings has meanings tied to the physical world. One notable meaning is the stefánia has a round shape that represents the earth's physical shape. The webs, depending on what herbs, talisman's or intents the piece is created with, order can encourage good luck, good health, fertility, good crops harvests, symbolize joy and longevity, to ward off evil spirits, encourage psychic dreams, promote sleep, to celebrate victory for returning heroes, to aid memory, ward of death, placed on coffins to ensure safe passage to the underworld often spoken of as the dreamscape, to calm the soul and absorb terrible dreams at night discharging them during the day. The beaded and often sea-shelled adornments elaborately decorate the hanging to enhance it's power.

For me personally, I grew up in a very actively haunted house, formerly a cattle slaughter house and experienced night terrors every night for as long as I can remember until around the age of 12(ish), where I would see "things" with my eyes open and scream until one parent came to my room. My mother eventually placed the Greek wall hangings she had made in my room and explained their purpose and so I began to feel safe and trust in these beautiful wall hangings that I fell asleep looking at. For me they are safety, protection and the pattern that holds space for the good energy that circulates the world. Each piece is weaved with love and my female energy while meditating on a specific thought or energy, saged & are created with the purpose of bringing protective energy to the person they guard. Each one is unique & different from the last, no two are made the same. There are beads from Australia, Buddhist symbols/centrepieces, crystals, locally sourced feature pieces, repurposed jewellery & shells from the Aegean Sea.
