This yellow Shawnee planter is made in the bow and ribbon pattern. The U.S.A. mark is clear on the bottom of the pot.
There is substantial crazing inside the pot (photo #3) and a small amount on the bottom (photo #4). There is no crazing on the exterior of the pot (yay!), and the glaze is shiny and clean. The bright, rich yellow color is cheerful and contrasts beautifully with any and all houseplant foliage.
There is a noticeable imperfection on the outside of the pot, most likely a mark left by the tongs when the pot was removed from the kiln (photo #5). Because of this imperfection, I have priced the pot lower than I would if the exterior glaze were perfect.
This is the largest size made in this pattern, and quite rare. It's much more common to find the 3.25" size and they sell for $50+.
You could use this pot as a cache-pot or plant directly in the pot. The built-in drainage hole is clear and allows excess water to flow freely out of the pot, which is essential for healthy houseplant growth. It also makes an excellent display item order and is highly collectible.
