Red and smoke tinted lidded jar, handmade pottery, unique and original storage jar, wheelthrown, pitfired and waxed, earth tones order

Ceramic lidded jar, unique handmade item, for storing little things or just decoration. This jar can also be used as an urn for ashes of pet animals (cats or dogs).
I throw my jars on the potter´s wheel in my home studio in Arnhem (The Netherlands) and they are fired at 1000 degrees Celsius.
After firing, this vessel got its final colouring in a pitfire. The procedure is as follows:
I dip the vessel in a sulphate solution and place the piece (along other pieces) in an open firepit outside. The pieces are covered with lots of combustible materials as sawdust, twigs and wooden branches, which are set on fire. The fire burns order for several hours until the flames die down. After smouldering overnight, the pieces are dug up, cleaned and waxed.
In the flames and smoke numerous beautiful colours and shades in reds, oranges and greys appear. As you have little control over this firing process, every piece is a surprise and absolutely one-of-a-kind.

volume: 650 ml, for ashes of animals up to 14 kg

Decorative pottery. As it is waxed, do not rinse or wash.
