Offered together are these two historic Deerfield, Massachusetts land deeds dating from the second quarter of the 19th century. The earlier, dated December 28th, 1829, documents the sale of a 55 acre parcel described as the "Hogins Farm" by Robert R. Field and Robert R. Field Jr. to Consider Dickenson, "yeoman" of Deerfield, for the sum of $1,000. The document is also signed by Justice of the Peace Pliny Arms. Additional notations appear to record Consider Dickenson's foreclosure on this property "for conditions broken" and its eventual resale to James McLellan. The second, dated January 19th, 1838 records the sale of "a certain tract of land on the east mountain in Deerfield" by James McLellan to one Zur Hawks, also for $1,000. Pliny Arms' signature appears on this document as well.
