Handcrafted, Lathe-Turned Phoenix Rising Antique Pewter - Molten Metal -Twist Pen order

The phoenix is a sacred firebird said to have beautiful feathers of gold and red. Its story has roots in many ancient civilizations- most notably the Egyptian and Greek. After 1,000 years the phoenix builds itself a nest of twigs, which then burns fiercely until they are both, reduced to ashes. From the ashes a young phoenix appears, renewing the life cycle of the bird and making the phoenix virtually immortal and invincible. This pen captures the story in detail, from the flames bursting at the tip, to the rising phoenix. The tail is rendered in the clip. Amber crystals on the clip and cap, along with the Molten Metal Acrylester pen body, add to the appeal of this majestic creature.

As a woodworker and a artist, we utilize an in-depth process that involves several hours and stages, in efforts to attain and present a finely polished, assembled work of art. The Molten Metal blank, derived from a polyester resin material, was measured, drilled, and a brass tube was inserted inside. The ends of the blank were squared, before being installed on a turning mandrel on a miniature lathe, and shaped with micro detail turning tools. After achieving the desired shape, we use a multi-stage sanding process, utilizing eight levels of sanding material, followed by a multi-step polishing process, to achieve the polished finish.
