Lapis Lazuli is one of the birthstones for the zodiac sign of Libra

In Crystal healing terms Lapis Lazuli is a Throat chakra and a Third Eye stone and is believed order to assist in balancing the thyroid gland and weight loss. It is a very useful stone for meditational exercises and helps open up the ESP centres.
Regarded as one of the stones of the ages it has always been symbol of power and royalty. In ancient Egypt it wad revered as a messenger from the gods. The gold flecks of pyrite within the deep blue believed to be mirroring the night sky. Lapis was often ground up and made into dyes which coloured the robes of the High priests and those of Royal blood or it was used to colour make up and body paints. It was also pulverised and used in certain remedies to counteract poisons and thought to cleanse the system of impurities and toxins. In Egypt it was thought to be a mental healer and soul purifier especially if ground up with gold and administered as an elixir or made into a poultice which was placed upon the crown of the head. Toady it can assist to purge and cleanse he aura of past issues that are no longer necessary for the soul to carry. When placed upon the third eye it penetrates through subconscious blockages in order to contact the intuitive neutral mind.
On the physical level Lapis lazuli is also believed to help boost the immune system and purify the lymph nodes and glands and slow down the growth of tumours.
