Vintage French order Embroidery with Cat

***Please note that the piece has a faint musty smell to it, probably owing to its storage. I have not attempted to launder it since I do not know if the thread is color fast. I am going to leave this outside in the fresh air and sunshine to try and get the odor to dissipate.

This vintage French embroidered piece features a cat and butterfly in a pastoral setting complete with flowers, clouds, birds, a windmill, a church, trees order, and grass.

The piece measures 25 ½" x 19 ¾" in its entirety but would more than likely be trimmed down into the oval shape encompassing the scene if one were to frame this or make a cushion out of it. The material on which the scene is stitched appears to be a heavier linen, maybe a linen/cotton blend.

The piece could be lightly ironed on the reverse with a protective towel over the stitching.
