Teabowl yunomi, kurinuki, raku order firing.

This teabowl was carved out from a single block of clay in the kurinuki style. The clay is typically sandy and light colored, this order being important so that the semitransparent glazes look brighter. Red iron and yellow ocher were used on a fritted base. Characteristic of this type of ware is the darkened unglazed areas,,the clay having absorbed the post-firing smoke to which has been submitted.
