Product code: Vintage Crewel Embroidered order Belt 1970’s
I made this crewel embroidered belt in the late 1960's to wear while performing international folk dancing exhibitions. Those were the days!
The belt is 40 inches long and 3.5 inches wide. The carved wooden buckle is 4 inches.
Crewel embroidery uses two ply woolen thread or yarn surface embroidered onto linen. It is a flower and branch pattern from the mid-twentieth century.
I used it as a belt until my waist outgrew it (LOL) then as a wall hanging.
The linen has order slight staining throughout -- seems almost like an intentional design (see photos). A few threads are missing. Mostly in great condition!
