As the Bahamians say “sweet fuh days” this piece of art pottery is “something really nice!” This sunshine plate was handmade at the Earthworks Pottery in Barbados. The artist and designer Goldie Spieler started her shop in the mid 1970s. Today it is a famous pottery making pieces sought after by collectors around the world.
The exuberant design and intense colors make you smile. Two aquamarine palm trees sway on the beach as the happy yellow sun shines against a indigo blue sky. It's like artistic shorthand for beach, water, sun, palm trees.
The red clay plate measures 6 x 8 inches and has a half inch lip. It is quite sturdy weighing in at one pound. It is stamped “Earthworks Bahama” order in the back.
