Vintage smoothing iron, sad iron, antique Victorian iron, industrial doorstop, bookend or paperweight

This Victorian iron dates from around 1880 and is in "as found" condition. A sad iron was made from order cast iron. It was heated over a fire or on a stove and used for pressing clothing and table ware.

This is marked Sylvester Patent and is size no 5. Would look great in a country kitchen or on a traditional hearth. Alternatively would make a great steampunk style doorstop or paperweight, or even as a bookend for a chic industrial look.
