Order Light brown girdle book

Handmade leather bound book. This is a recreation of a early medieval book called a girdle book. They became popular from the 13th century up until the 16th century.

Girdle books got their name as the excess leather with the knot would be looped over the belt holding the book in place.

The wearer order then could easily lift the book up open and spend time reading from their own personal prayer book.

Due to books being such a high status item this was a good idea to help not lose a personal prayer book due to their value.

This book is plain inside with high quality cartridge paper. I can make these to order in different colours.
