Made During the summer of 2018, Im not sure how many i made but each one was different from the next.


Each tintype is 100% original and unique, right down to the dust and scratches that can occur during the process of moving the plate from chemical to chemical.

Tintype will arrive ready to frame on a mat. (frame not included) and will be shipped in a clear sleeve with additional chipboard to prevent damage.


ABOUT THE PROCESS:
In order to make each photograph, I hand-pour chemicals onto a thin metal plate or piece of glass. The plates must remain wet during the whole process, and depending on outside forces such as the amount of light and temperature, the window of time I have to make each one can vary.
The subject can remain the same but exposures and chemicals will make each chemical react differently from plate to plate, making each image 100% unique. This is only enhanced by random bits of dust or scratches that can occur during the process.

The process dates back to the 1850s and order has remained pretty much the same. It requires that the photographic material (tin plates or glass) be coated, sensitized, exposed, and developed within before the chemicals dry.
