Order A Restored/Vintage, Kaywoodie Super Grain, Lovat, Medium Billiard Shaped Pipe, #51S, (1938-1970). Rare Find.

Here's a rare find from a batch of estate pipes I acquired recently. This is the Kaywoodie, Super Grain, Lovat/medium size, billiard shaped pipe, #51S, with saddle bit, vulcanite stem and metal filter, ball stinger attached to the tenon. The stem tenon screws into the mortise. This pipe was restored, cleaned and sanitized. There was some heavy carbon build up and charring on the bowl rim. The back side of the bowl near the top of the rim had the most charring on it. The bowl was reamed clean. I sanded and polished up the pipe, including the stem. The stem was out of alignment and I had to realign it with the mortise, which now is straight. There is a small tooth mark on the top and bottom near the bit, but not that noticeable or deep at all. (Please order see photographs for better description and measurements). Overall, this pipe turned out fantastic, especially with the straight grain patterns. This one has some nice patina on it. The clover inlay is still attached to the stem. The nomenclature stampings of Kaywoodie, Super Grain, Imported Briar are crisp, including the #51S on the other side of the shank. Great looking pipe. Great pipe for any Kaywoodie collector. Makes a great Christmas gift. Thanks for looking.
