Condition:
There is a light, dime-sized stain at the bottom-left corner of volume II. Both volumes are tightly bound with no cracks and no loose pages and have sharp cover corners. Bright gilt page edges at the top of both volumes. The text pages of both volumes are in great condition and nearly appear unread - clean with no issues found. The primary condition issue with the set is that the front end papers and pastedowns have tanned areas (with foxing/staining?), presumably caused by the dust jackets that had originally come with the set (see photos). The front end paper of each volume has an inscription written in pen dated 1895. There is a small stain spot at the order lower-inner corner of the front end paper in volume II. Other than the discoloration to the end papers/pastedowns, the set is in very good condition.
