This is a bronze medal from the State of Israel. It was made in 1992 in honor of SUCCOT - the Feast of the Tabernacles, also known as the Time of Rejoicing and marking the culmination of the period of introspection, the Days of Repentance. Succot is also known as the Season of the Harvest. It specifically honors the Seven Divine Guests: Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, order Aaron, and David. It is an obligation of the celebration to gather the Four Species (shown on the reverse)--a palm frond, myrtle, willow, and an etrog (citrus fruit resembling a lemon), which are held together to symbolize the unity of the Jewish people. This celebrates one of the three holidays of pilgrimage to Jerusalem. This medal is 59 mm in diameter and is made of bronze. Imprinted along the edge of the medal are State of Israel in English and Hebrew, Bronze, and 0782 (all are numbered sequentially, so this one is very early). This medal is still being produced. This medal is in very good, pre-owned condition with a couple of extremely small dark spots.
This medal has not been cleaned or polished.
