Days 7+8: « #Misunderstood & Animals in Love »
Day7: MISUNDERSTOOD. Vultures are a very good example of a highly misunderstood group ❌. Mostly due to their scavenging nature and their impressive shapes, these raptors are often categorized as a threat. Griffon vultures (Gyps fulvus) suffered huge declines in some areas (especially in France & Spain) due to humans misbelieved and fears. At the end of the 20th century, it has been hunted, poisoned and deprived of food. The latest reason is currently a big problem on the Spanish side of the Pyrenees where carrion must now be rendered to facilities instead of order being left in the wild, lowering food availability and increasing « vultures attacks » on people or unhealthy/young living animals.
