Kapok, also called plant down, is the silky soft vegetable fiber of the kapok tree. Kapok grows in the tropics on trees up to 30 order m high, which bear about 10-15 cm large fruits and whose fruit hairs provide the kapok fiber. For 1 kg of raw cocoa, about 250 fruits are needed. After poplar fluff, kapok is the lightest hollow natural fiber with about 80% air inclusion.
