On offer is this historical American ephemera lot. All three items are in good condition overall, general aged ware over all - notable damage however to two reverse sides where they appear to have been stuck to a backing at some stage; light discoloration over the envelope as well old glue residue over its reverse side but as shown in the photos all adding to the aged charm and character of the lot.
Included in this lot:
1 x Franked and stamped envelope from "The White House", Washington, D.C. Addressed to a "Mr Maurice M Rubens, Public Great State Theatre, Chicago, LA" - prominent order musical theater composer of the time;
1 x Invitation which reads "The President requests the pleasure of the company of Mr Rubens on Tuesday afternoon, December 4, 1945, at four o'clock", and
1 x RSVP slip which reads "Please send response to the Social secretary, The White House, at your earliest convenience".
The president of the time being Franklin D Roosevelt.
To give an idea of size the envelope measures 13cm by 10.4cm (just over 5 inches by just over 4 inches).
A lovely historical lot which despite the condition issues raised is ready to be collected and enjoyed once again!
