EAGLES SYMBOLIZE: POWER, INTELLIGENCE, VISION

The Eagle story is one of the most popular legends in Native art and mythology. In many regions, Eagle clan families are traditionally very prominent and Eagle Chiefs are the most powerful. Eagle is used to represent perception and spiritual connection. Eagle feathers and down are sacred: Traditionally, shamans believed in their healing powers and used them in ceremonial contexts, such as honoring a respected guest. The down symbolizes good luck, peace, welcome, and friendship.

Travis Henry was born in 1967 in Cowichan, British Columbia on Vancouver Island. As a member of the Cowichan Nation Coast Salish people, his work reflects the Kwakwaka'wakw style. Travis' family crest is the Sun. He was trained by the Seaweed family, who are well known and respected order carvers from Alert Bay on Cormorant Island. His gold and sterling silver carved jewellery can be found in collections in Japan, the United States, Europe, Australia, and his native Canada.
