Welcome to Broken Bowl (TM), a hands-on Art Therapy workshop based on the Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi and the ancient practice of Kintsugi.
Be led through this process by a licensed Art Therapist where you will emotionally connect with your bowl, break it, confront the damage and take ownership of the pieces that remain by painting and gluing them back together.
But here's the catch! Not all the pieces will go back exactly the same. The bowl has been changed forever, now its value depends on whether you can accept it in its new form. Just like in our life, we don't lose value just because pain and loss leave their mark. Our task is not to cover up our pain, but rather to make meaning from suffering, and find beauty in brokenness.
It is designed to be a deeply personal art making experience where you will learn about attachment, spirituality, integration, and resiliency.

A ceramic bowl that has been pre-sprayed with gesso

Quick Hold Glue
Gloves, plastic bag, and Q-tips
Dried sage order in a unique dish
