Description

Product Name: Bessie Coleman, Female Pilot, order 1922

Bessie Coleman a/k/a Queen Bess, was the 1st black woman to earn a pilot's license. In 1920 she traveled to France to enroll in flight school where she became the first black person to earn an international pilot's license. She then became an exhibition pilot in early but dangerous air shows in the US. Her dream was to build a school for young black aviators, however in 1926 she died while flying her new Curtiss JN-4. Her pioneering role has been an inspiration to many.

This is a hand tinted black and white photograph, tinted with oil paints. First I restore the black and white photograph, print it on a special paper and hand tint it with oil paints. It comes in multiple standard frame sizes and is matted to that standard size. I am listing here the one matted to a standard 11x14 frame but can do any size you order wish. It also comes framed if desired but you would need to call me (804) 514-0082 or email me at sbock [!at] art2die4.net with your specific request.
