Antique Victorian Silver Plate order Toast Rack / Letter Rack with Decorative Handle and Ball Feet – Fully Marked - Kitchenalia Gift - Late 19th C

A fabulous antique silver plate Victorian Circular Toast Rack with a decorative handle and four ball feet, c late 19th Century. Can also be used as a Silver plate letter rack. The silver plate toast rack has a number of marks and numbers which at first glance appear to be a hallmark for silver. The Victorians used to make these marks deliberately deceptive so that people could use the item at dinner parties and it would look fancier than it was. An interesting social history insight.

It is beautifully made and really lovely to look at.

The Silver Plate Toast Rack is in excellent antique condition with no breaks, obvious scratches or dents. Some silver tarnishing so could do with a polish. Please view photos. This item presents as if it has hardly been used.

This Rack is 19 cm (7 1/4 in) wide, 9 cm (3 in) deep and 15 cm (6 in) high at its highest. Weighs 310 g (10.8 oz).
