A rare early edition of 'Funworder' (very obviously Scrabble), this true vintage example of the game from New Zealand was made by Alister Bevin of Auckland, dates from the early-mid 1950s and is complete and ready to be enjoyed for many hours to come.
The box contains:
• All 100 wooden letter tiles
• Folding red hard board playing board
• 4 wooden letter racks
• Instructions are printed in the lid (handy for not losing them!)
The set is in a lovely, light red colour, and the dark wooden tiles have order a lovely tactile feel to them.
Unlike the early Scrabble sets made in other countries, this 'Funworder' game bears no reference to being licensed from the production and marketing company, but the style of production of the board, box and contents is very very similar. The distribution of the 100 letters is also exactly the same.
The set is in good vintage condition. The contents are in very good vintage condition. The box is complete and mainly in good shape, with some evidence of wear including a tear to one edge of the lid, but is largely in good, solid shape.
The box states it was manufactured by Alister Bevin of Auckland. It is not dated, but style of manufacture is very similar to those made and dated from the early 1950s up to about 1954.
A wonderful opportunity to own this lovely retro, vintage game set ready to play and treasure for years to come.
