If you like pattern, particularly herringbone, you are going to love Hell's Canyon Petrified Wood. This rare variety of petrified wood is known for the herringbone zigzag lines. It was mined from the deepest river gorge in North America and it has been said the rough was collected in the 1950's by an old rock hound. Not long after it was mined, the Hell's Canyon Dam was built and made the area inaccessible.
