This colorful necklace combines old and new African Glass Beads in Red, Yellow, and Black. The matte red powder glass beads are the old ones; they have wonderful character, with some shallow pitting and an aged, worn appearance. The red color is warm but slightly muted; with the superficial pitting, they look a little like strawberries. Their size and shape varies; the round center bead is about 20mm and the barrels range from 10-12mm by 16 to 20mm long.

The matte yellow barrel beads are contemporary Krobo beads, almost identical in size and shape to their red counterparts, while the two shiny yellow rounds with mosaic designs are from India. Hand painted Krobo beads in black, yellow, and red add more pattern and color to the design. The multicolor glass discs used as spacers are made of fused glass in red, yellow, and black.

The two cast brass bicones at the end of the necklace are vintage, beautifully made, from Ghana.

The necklace has 18" of beads strung on dark brown leather cord. It is currently knotted securely at 22." You may choose your preferred length for the leather cord from the Variations menu at checkout. For lengths shorter than 22," or by request, I will add a brass clasp. order
