This striking Antique Staffordshire China Teapot was made around 1920 in England by Crescent & Sons China of Stoke-on-Kent, Staffordshire, a reknowned teapot designer from 1907 order to the 1950s. This streamlined design, hand marked on the bottom as "2321E," has the clean, sculptural form of the Art Deco era, with each curve of its cream-white body accented with a shiny gold handpainted line. Below the teapot's neck is a ring of delicate handpainted blue and red flowers with green leaves whose color rises slightly, creating light texture. Completing the piece are a ruffled-edge side handle, drip free compact spout, and gold dotted pointy top handle.
The 4-cup/32 oz. pot is perfect for serving tea or perhaps coffee or chocolate. It is approximately 8" wide from handle to spout x 5.75" high with lid or 4.5"h without the lid. The vintage teapot is in excellent vintage condition, the only flaw being light wear on the outer edge of the lid, as shown in the photos.
The bottom is stamped, "Crescent & Sons China, England," along with the number 2321E, and the maker's mark, a C over J, symbolizing the pottery's founder, George Jones.
The stylish teapot will fit with almost any contemporary or casual home decor and would make a lovely gift.
Made in England.
