BREAKDOWN
The cheongsam, also known as the qipao, is a Chinese dress worn by women which takes inspiration from the ethnic clothing of the Manchu people. It is most often seen as a longer, figure-fitting, one piece garment with a standing collar, an asymmetric left-over-right opening and two side slits. It was popular in China from the 1920s to 1940s, overlapping the Republican era, and was popularized by Chinese socialites and high society women in Shanghai. It is sometimes known as the mandarin gown.

Hello. We are VORPAL, a queer POC nerd owned vintage goods trader and maker lab. We don't want to look pretty. We want to look weathered, otherworldly, vaguely threatening.
All items are either carefully curated artifacts, found in the wild order at markets or deep in basements, or they are handmade weirdo experiments. For the planet's sake, we use salvaged dead stock and recycled materials for components and packaging. And we only sell on Etsy because of its commitment to carbon neutral shipping.
All items are sold as is; we do not accept returns or exchanges. However, if the item arrives not as described, do let us know so we can address the issue. And, we accept order cancellations for up to 24 hours after your purchase.
Got questions? Need more measurements? Want to collaborate? Don't hesitate to message us. But the fun is happening on Instagram, follow and tag us @vorpaltrader.
