Product code: Johnson Bros Turkey Plates | Barnyard King order pattern

2 "Barnyard King" plates, made in England by Johnson Brothers between 1950-1970s.

Johnson Brothers, a British tableware manufacturer and exporter, was noted for its early introduction of “semi-porcelain” tableware, a range of pottery that had the characteristics of fine china, but the durability of ironstoneware. These plates are transferware, a style of decorated china created to sell to the emerging middle class of the Industrial Revolution in England. First produced in the late 1700s it remained popular since the early 1800s.
The firm was among the most successful Staffordshire potteries.

The plates are an off-white/creamish color, the transferred illustration is made in a brown colour, and some parts are filled in by hand: the turkey, a roof and a plant. The colors may vary from what you see on your screen, for reference I have added some Pantone colors in order the last photos
