The forget-me-not has long symbolized true love and the human desire for loyalty and lastingness, often given to lovers and loved ones. It celebrates true love as well as the remembrance of good memories.
According to folklore, forget-me-nots are a magical flower that can help one attain their hearts desire. When tied to a stick, those born order under a lucky star can use it to open invisible doors behind which all the world's treasure lie.
Medicinally, they are healing plants, and parts are used topically to treat inflammations, ulcers, respiratory problems, and other conditions.
Though a small and humble flower, forget me nots seem to reflect the sky itself, and many believe they resemble eyes. They remind us to take time for those we love, cherish memories, and respect the past.
The pin measures 2 1/8" long and about 1" wide. It has two lapel pin backs for extra security. Perfect for fixing to a coat or a bag.
This piece was hand carved by myself and cast in brass, then hand-oxidized and finished in my studio. The pin backs are nickel and the catches are vintage so I am not 100% sure of the metal, but I believe they are brass.
