Rorstrand Koka Blue Large Casserole Dish - order Bean or Soup Pot, Hertha Bengtson Design, Scandinavian Mid Century

This gorgeous Rorstrand Koka Blue Large Casserole Dish/Bean/Soup Pot was designed in the 1950's by Hertha Bengtson. Stamped on the base El-Fast, Swedish for Flameproof.

Like all great design it is timeless - as beautiful, relevant and practical today as the day it was designed over 60 years ago.

Below order I have a little info about the designer and the design.

Hertha Bengtson (1917-1993) was an inspirational designer working forRörstrand from 1941 to 1964. She revolutionized modern tableware with her 1951 table service Blue Fire (Blå Eld in Swedish) that combined her passion for art with her love of ceramics. Her second full table service for Rörstrand was Koka (simply: to cook), which came to market in 1956. Although Koka more conservative than Blue Fire it was more successful and was in production until 1988.

Great vintage condition. This casserole has been used but well loved and cared for. The rim does not have glaze but this would have been its original condition. Please carefully check the photographs .
