order When I saw this print, I knew I had to have this dress! Amidst painterly brushes of color are line drawings of various dogs, fire hydrants and houses. There are dachshunds, poodles, setters, terriers, and St Bernards- something for everyone. The colorway is very unusual as well. On a light green ground there is grass green, coral, grey, olive and black.
The front bodice is fitted from waist darts. In the center are two tucks, either side of center front and three decorative buttons near neckline. The skirt is gathered and very full. Sleeves are short and very puffed. A self band acts as a cuff and olive green rickrack decorates the tops of cuffs. The collar is narrow, round and white. Closure is in back via four vintage buttons. Back bodice is also fitted with waist darts.
A vintage ribbon acts as a sash.
One original button was missing when I found the dress, so I replaced all four from my stash. Part of one tuck had come undone and this was re-sewn.
The dress never had a sash as far as I can tell, so I used a vintage rayon grosgrain ribbon that matches the coral of the print beautifully. It looks more finished with the sash. Dress is now in excellent condition. Size is a 3.
