My father, Arthur Jacobson (1924 - 2010), was a noted artist and professor (Arizona State University) with a long career and I have his estate of artworks which includes these small watercolor and ink "sketches" in preparation for larger works. He made many larger wood cuts of musicians in the orchestra and also made a huge woodcut of the entire orchestra. He handled ink and watercolor in a spontaneous and lively way, capturing the essence of order the music and the movement of the musician. He loved abstract, active shapes and gestures. This one is an original artwork called "Clarinetist" #2 and is ink, watercolor and charcoal on watercolor paper, made in 1984, 10" h x 8 " w. One of a kind, signed and dated by him.
