Professional abrasive powder / polishing powder set for polishing river stones / sea glass and much more
Silicon Carbide / Aluminum Oxide / Plastic Pallets
Grinding instructions
The rubber drum of the Lortone is to be filled with small rough stones approx ¾ .
This size of the stones can vary, but they should not exceed the size of 3 - 4cm.
It is ideal if the stones have different sizes, for example from 10mm - 35mm.
In addition, the stones to be processed should have the same hardness.
Grinding and polishing powder
Add about 10% silicon order carbide (1 kilo of stones = 100g of grinding powder) to one drum filling for coarse powder. For finer grinding / polishing powder, add about 6%.
The grinding / polishing powders are numbered with an order.
After the stones and the powder have been filled into the drum, the drum is filled with water about 1cm to 2cm below the stone surface.
Now the drum is closed and the machine is turned on.
The drum content should be checked every 2 days.
Be careful when opening the drum, there may be a slight overpressure.
The stones are now processed with one powder type until you can no longer see any improvements. Then change to the next powder type / work step.
Indicator for the duration of the grinding/polishing process:
STEP 1: K-80 1 to 3 weeks
STEP 2: K-220 1 to 2 weeks
STEP 3: K-500 1 to 2 weeks
STEP 3a: K-800 1 week
STEP 4: Plastic + Aluminum 3 to 5 days
Important:
After a grinding / polishing operation, wash the stones, the drum and the hands. It is more advantageous to have a separate polishing drum for each type of powder. For particularly soft stones, it is recommended to use the "plastic pelltes" as a filler. This prevents scratching of the stones.
