Out in the garden looking at all the new fronds on the native ferns, I was inspired by their unfurling to create this pair of earrings.
The three separate curls on this earring are in different stages of unfolding, just like the sword ferns.
Each piece is separate so it swings independently, creating lots of interest and movement.
Created by handfabricating and forging sterling silver. A light hammered texture catches the light to add a little shimmer to the surface.
The longest frond is about 2 inches long, with the earring being about 2 1/2" from top of the earwire to the bottom of the longest frond.
All sterling silver....they were fun to make. Nickel free (only silver & copper in our sterling metals).
The last picture is of my inspiration...our native sword fern coming back to life after the winter.
