"Water Lily" is an original mixed media painting done with watercolor and graphite. This combination of media actually gives the painting an old fashioned or vintage look which is apropos as the reference photo for the inspiration for this painting was from the order cover of a 1940's Plant Guidebook. I love water lilies and we have many of them on our lake in Maine, both the white and yellow variety. This painting is done on watercolor paper drawn with graphite pencil, painted with watercolors and then more shading and line work done again with graphite pencil.
