Vintage Japanese FLOWER Arranging VASE with Ceramic Insert - Ikebana Hanaire Hanakago - order Lacquered Asian Decor Baskets

This is a pair of beautiful, vintage or Mid Century Japanese HANAGAKO VASES made for IKEBANA flower decoration and arrangements. These Lacquered Hanagako vases were originally designed for Japanese Tea Ceremonies. This listing is for a SET OF 2!

Both vases are made from dyed and split natural bamboo that has been lacquered. The darker one has a stunning pattern of "herringbone weave" down its length; the lighter one has a beautiful 3-dimensional woven pattern all over that is amazingly unique in color.

Both vases have a ceramic insert woven into its body to accommodate the easy storage of flowers (either fresh or dried) in this vase.


They were most likely produced by Japanese artisans during the mid-century (1950s), but I was unable to determine its actual date and maker.

There are no nails or fasteners used in these baskets; just gorgeous weaving.

They are in remarkable vintage condition for its age and would be a treasured gift if received!
