Tilted pale spring green order porcelain ceramic pottery bud vase

This adorable porcelain bud vase is intentionally set off-kilter to create an interesting dynamic on your shelf. I call these pieces "ephemeral pods" because they remind me of the small ephemeral plants that bloom in early spring on the rich forest floor. Their slight tilt gives them character and individuality like those found in nature.

This piece is designed by me (the artist) then slip-cast and hand cut to produce a one-of-a-kind piece. The original form was wheel-thrown and altered, then carefully hand-carved to leave the raised vein pattern on the petals. I create a multi-part mold from the original and hand cast each one with liquid porcelain clay slip. Once the piece hardens slightly, the scalloped rim is cut by me or a skilled studio assistant. Then the bottom is sanded flat, but off center to leave a fun, tilted flower bud.
