You have just looked at a a beautiful and attractive old Dutch antique hard cover linen book (326 pages) called: Canada, A country with great potential (Een land met grote mogelijkheden). Published by J. Niemeijer and created with text and beautiful black and white pictures and drawings by S.J. Hovius and T. Plomp in 1950. The liberation of the Netherlands by the Canadian Army resulted in close contact and enduring friendship. Many Dutch settled themselves in Canada. This informative book with original Canadian map was published in 1950 for the inhabitants of the Netherlands. The preface is written by Pierre Dupuy (July 9, 1896 – May 21, 1969). He was a Canadian diplomat and writer. His most noted achievement was as the Commissioner General of Expo 67. Dupuy was born in Montreal, Quebec in 1896. He studied law and international law at the Université de Montréal and at the Sorbonne in Paris. In 1922 he joined the department of External Affairs and worked in Paris as secretary for the office of the Canadian Commissioner General. During World War II, Canada did not break off its diplomatic relations with the Vichy regime in France. Dupuy became the chargé d'affaires for the Canadian legations for France, Belgium and the Netherlands. On November 2, 1940 the British Foreign Secretary, Lord Halifax, asked the Canadian government to allow Dupuy to visit Vichy to make an informal report on the present situation which would be of considerable value.

This book is considering its age of 68 years order in a perfect vintage condition. The pages hardly became yellow.
