Our frames have real hand decorated eggs using the traditional Ukrainian process. Each egg has been drained and treated with a layer of clear varnish. The eggs are cut in half and mounted within a shadow box that can be hung on walls to be enjoyed year around.

Pysanky are a Ukrainian artistic tradition dating back millennia. Beeswax and dyes are used in a wax-resist process, similar to batik, to preserve layers of color building up to the final design. Graphic elements represent symbols such as the sun representing life. Colors are also symbolic, such as red for love. The artist uses traditional designs as well as some of her own.
