I Hand-sketch the outline on Canvas Board with a black marker. If the design starts with a black canvas, I use a white marker.

IMPORTANT- Note, we use Canvas BOARD, not STRETCHED Canvas. Stretched Canvas is an option at checkout. At the bottom is an explanation of the difference.

Please note that while most canvases are 16" x 20" canvas boards, some designs look best on a 12" x 12" canvas. Some of the children's choices are on even smaller canvases.

If you plan a virtual paint party, we can mail the kits to each person separately. You will need to place each order individually, so Etsy calculates and prints the postage label correctly.

If you have a large paint party and order multiple kits, we can gift wrap each kit separately for an excellent presentation at your event. We charge $1 per set.

Canvas Board and Stretched Canvas: What's the difference?
Canvas Board
A canvas board (or panel) is canvas glued to a stiff cardboard backing. You can easily frame canvas panels with a standard picture frame, or you can hang them unframed. If you mount a canvas board, order you need to remove the glass because direct contact with paint will damage a painting. I treat my paintings with two coats of a sealant to protect them from dust and fading. But, putting glass in direct contact with paint causes problems for the art. The glass causes temperature changes, and humidity builds up. This leads to fading, and mold can develop. If you want to frame the painting behind glass, ensure there is at least a 1/4 inch of space between the glass and the art. Canvas boards are stiff, making them less prone to damage during shipping. They are also less expensive and easier to store.
Stretched Canvas
As the name implies, a stretched canvas is a piece of canvas stretched over a wooden frame. You don't need to frame these canvases. I seal my paintings with two coats of clear acrylic sealant to protect them from dust and fading. Then I attach a wire to the back of the wooden frame so the painting is ready for hanging right out of the box. When I paint on stretched canvases, I always paint the sides as well. This gives the art a more finished look. Stretched canvases are more delicate and more difficult to work with. Too much pressure from a brush can stretch it and cause an indentation. A sharp pencil during sketching can poke a hole in the canvas.
On the other hand, a stretched canvas painting looks good on any wall and fits any decor. Stretched canvases need to be carefully packed and well-cushioned in the shipping box to avoid damage during shipping. They're more expensive and take up a lot more space for storage.
