These unique floral square shawls are called “hustka” in Ukrainian tradition. This is not just an accessory that protected from the sun or wind, but also a talisman and a valuable gift.
A scarf is a woman's amulet, because it protects her from all evil, distress, disease. Also Ukrainians have a custom, each girl gave an embroidered handkerchief, which symbolized true love, to her fiance. Today, a scarf is an indispensable element of clothing.

This gorgeous vintage head scarf dates back approximately to 1970s and comes from Ukraine. Its design features a beautiful floral pattern of pink tulips and green leaves on black background.
