------------------
Solid Australian white opal with a freeform cabochon cut (domed and smooth top with a flat back). This natural loose order gemstone has a lovely play of colours evenly spread across the surface with blue and green as dominant colours in a pinfire pattern. Perfect to be set into a ring or pendant.
This is a natural, untreated solid white opal, NOT doublet or triplet.
Due to its hardness, Opal is suitable for all-purpose in jewelry.
Opal (from the Sanskrit "upala" meaning jewel) is a form of Silica with water content usually ranging from 6 to 10%. Opals are mainly found in Australia, Mexico, the United States, and more recently in Ethiopia.
Opal is the birthstone for the month of October.
