Order 3 Dories, Limited Edition Etching

"3 Dories" measures 7 inches x 5 inches. This is one print of a limited edition of ten.

An etching is a print made from a metal plate, either zinc or copper. order In an etching, the incisions in the plate are produced by drawing on an acid-resistant wax ground with a sharp tool and immersing the plate in an acid bath. Darker lines are produced by longer immersion.

To create an aquatint, (gray area) the plate is covered with a fine dust of rosin particles and heated so that the rosin dust adheres to it. The plate is then submersed into the acid. The acid bites around the particles, producing a tonal effect.

The plate is then inked and wiped and run through a press. it's a long time honored process producing beautiful results.

"3 Dories"is printed with black ink on somerset paper.
