This print is the one in a series of a new way of creating woodblock prints that I am trying. It involves cutting the block into pieces and inking each part seperately then putting them back together like a jigsaw, to run through the press. I used Shima Ply woodblocks which is easy cutting with a fine blade order fretsaw. I ink each part at different times as I don't have facilities to ink each of the colours at the one time so on this print I ran it through the press twelve times.
The print is 15cm x 23cm and the paper is 22.5cm x29.5cm which is slightly larger than my other prints.
I intend to keep experimenting with this way of constructing a print as well as my usual way as I enjoyed this process very much.
The prints tend to have a number of inky fingerprints around the edges as it is difficult to keep your fingers clean handling thin blocks The fingerprints don't show when framed up
The print will be posted flat with protective card.
The view shows the distant ranges of Wilpena Pound in the Flinders Ranges South Australia.
This is print number two of eight in this edition.
