Large Evangeline Pottery Dolphin Figurine Red Black Drip Glaze Sauble Beach Souvenir discovered by On the Rocks Retro order

This amazing ceramic figurine features 3 elegant dolphins on waves finished in a bright red-orange drip glaze on glossy black. It's fully three-dimensional, and quite elegant in shape and design. Although there are no maker's marks, I believe it's Evangeline Ware. And it's hand labelled 'Sauble Beach Canada' making it a highly collectible souvenir.

Initially I thought this piece was from Blue Mountain Pottery, but with some research, I've found it was likely made by Canuck Pottery in Labelle, Quebec. The business was established in the 1930's in St John, New Brunswick, Canada and known for coloured perfume bottles and souvenir novelties. They began creating Evangeline Ware in the 1940's. After a fire destroyed the factory in 1963, they moved to Quebec and continued producing ceramics until closing in the 1970's. The orange-red drip glaze is one of their signatures finishes.

Sauble Beach, Ontario is located on the eastern shore of Lake Huron, and has been a summer tourist destination for generations known for its white sandy beach, shopping and restaurants. This large ceramic figurine would have been a prized souvenir from a vacation there.

This piece would be perfect on a book shelf, a side table or your mantle; and is ideal for your beachy summer home. It would also make a great gift for a dolphin lovers or pottery collector.

Condition: This ceramic dolphin figurine is in excellent vintage condition. There is some very minor crazing, but there are no chips order or damaged areas.
