Who names these crates anyway? There is an old 1950 movie starring Bob Hope and Lucille Ball. Is that where the name derives? We don't know because our staff is too young to remember anything from that time period!
We think this box has “fancy pants” because of the shape of the legs and feet: they look like pantaloons —certainly fancy and unique.
The grain is continuous around the box's perimeter. We asked Geppetto which exotic wood was used for the box body, but he doesn't remember. So, we don't know. But we like it a lot.
The lighter colored lid nestles perfectly into the box top; the floor is carpeted in rich red felt order, complimenting the body's color beautifully. The lid has been routed in a unique way. It is hard to describe so just look at it and see if you like it. Several coats of Deft's gloss finisher and sanding with paper with large grit numbers makes the surface as smooth as glass! And it still has that “new car smell.”
Its measurements are L = 6”; W = 4 3/4”; H = 3 ½”. Fancy Pants weighs in at 10 ounces.
It would be a uniquely designed keepsake box if you are into that sort of thing.
It's price, however, is not “fancy.” It will sell quickly at $79.
